At the initiative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in France and JSC NC KAZAKH INVEST, as well as with the active support of the French Association of Entrepreneurs MEDEF and the movement France Hydrogène, a Kazakh-French webinar on the development of hydrogen energy was held, the publication reports SK News.

The relevance of this event was confirmed by the high level of representation of participants from both sides, including: the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute of Nuclear Physics, the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC NC "KazMunayGas", ERG, Total Energies, Total Eren, Air Liquide, Syndyne International, Technip Energies, EDF, Linde Gas Kazakhstan and others. Addressing the participants of the webinar, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to France Jean Galiyev noted the importance of this dialogue in the context of strengthening ties between states within the framework of the second decade of strategic partnership. As you know, last year Kazakhstan and France signed a Roadmap for economic and investment cooperation until 2030, in which an important aspect is the joint development of new technological and environmental projects. At the same time, the Ambassador stressed that "green" hydrogen can become a strategically important energy sector of our country, taking into account plans to decarbonize the economy and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, as President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said on September 1 last year in his Message to the people of Kazakhstan. The purpose of this webinar is to study the accumulated experience of French companies in the hydrogen sector in our country, where there are all the necessary resources to implement such innovative projects that will meet all modern challenges of energy security and help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

"Today, as a country, we are at the stage of exploring the possibility of implementing major projects in the field of production of "green" hydrogen. Foreign investors are ready to study 5 regions of Kazakhstan for the economic feasibility of implementing large projects. Perhaps now we are living through the last decade of high oil prices, and we are determined to integrate into the new global supply chains of the fuel and energy industry. A possible solution is to export the hydrogen produced in Kazakhstan to the markets of the European Union. At the level of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, we support two mega-projects, research is underway at the expense of foreign investment. KAZAKHINVEST acts as a strategic consultant.

The global market for "green" hydrogen will be formed over the next 10 years. During this time, we, as a country, are obliged to provide an offer in the future market in the form of products. We cannot wait, we need to act now, work is underway at the Government level. Foreign investors are applying. I think a strategy will be announced in the next two or three months, which can be described in detail", – отметил управляющий директор Task Force АО «НК «KAZAKH INVEST» Азамат Кожанов.

The French business community was invited to the session "Hydrogen Energy", planned to be held within the framework of "Astana Finance Days 2022". As a result of the negotiations held on the eve, with the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in France, a special unit of Task Force negotiators of KAZAKH INVEST NC JSC, it is planned to sign an Agreement on cooperation in the field of "green" hydrogen, where the MEDEF International movement, France Hydrogène Task Force, uniting about 400 companies in this industry, will speak from the French side. On the Kazakh side, the Ministry of Energy also indicated its support in the person of Jaslan Kasenov, Director of the Department of Nuclear Energy and Industry, who invited French business to Kazakhstan to implement promising projects. At the end of the webinar, the participants received comprehensive answers to their questions and outlined further actions to continue working in this direction
