Kazakhstan will legislatively provide for the definition of unconventional types of hydrocarbons, including shale oil, the publication reports SK News with reference to the Kazinform agency.

"On amendments to the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Subsoil and Subsoil Use": it is proposed to provide for the definition of unconventional types of hydrocarbons, including shale oil, shale gas, gas hydrates, as well as the competence of the authorized body for the study of the subsoil in terms of determining the instructions for calculating reserves and their classification. These amendments will provide a legislative basis for the exploration and development of unconventional types of hydrocarbons, including shale oil, shale gas," said Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Kairbek Uskenbayev, presenting amendments to legislation on energy conservation at the plenary session of the Senate.

It was noted that some amendments relate to the construction of buildings and structures of border departments and automobile checkpoints across the State Border. To ensure the construction of these facilities, it is proposed to endow the authorized body in the field of transport and highways with competence for the construction of buildings and structures of border departments (offices) of the Border Service of the National Security Committee, as well as automobile checkpoints across the State Border. Earlier it was reported that at the plenary session of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, deputies adopted the Law "On Amendments and Additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on electric power, energy conservation and energy efficiency, subsoil Use, local Government and the state border".
