If repairs at CPC last longer than May, the loss could be 1 million tons per month. Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov answered journalists' questions about the situation at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, reports inbusiness.kz.

“We try every day to keep in touch with our colleagues at CPC. So far, there is still a reference from their side that the weather conditions do not allow repair crews to go down under the water. I cannot answer for the accuracy of the information, after all, this is not the jurisdiction of Kazakhstan. Therefore, we wait until April 15, and then I already think about whether to send my colleagues or maybe we ourselves will go to determine the prospects on the spot. Now, as far as I know, all the damage has already been identified there. If the repair is delayed further, to May, then, probably, it will already be noticeable, ” - he said.

Now the CPC is working at 60%, the losses are not so serious, the minister added.

“But if the repair exceeds May, then the losses can be 1 million tons per month. But this is if we do not get additional tank cars, if we do not agree with tankers on crossing the Caspian Sea, this is what we are doing every day now. We are trying to mitigate the risks.” he explained.

Today, there are already agreements on increasing the quota through the Atyrau-Samara oil pipeline and additional tank cars have been found, the head of the department added.
