Akim of the Atyrau region Makhambet Dosmukhambetov announced this during the regional exhibition "Atyrau Oil & Gas", reports Kazinform Agency

The head of the region congratulated the participants of the large-scale industry event, which resumed its work after the start of the pandemic. 

“After a long break due to the coronavirus pandemic, one of the most important events in the oil and gas industry is resuming its work. The exhibition has become an effective platform for direct dialogue between representatives of oil and service companies. There are great opportunities here to get acquainted with new equipment, services and technologies of the oil and gas industry. The presence of a resource base makes the region an ideal place for a national oil and gas cluster, which gives a powerful impetus to the development of such industries as petrochemistry, energy, construction industry and others”,

After visiting the exhibition together with other participants of the event, the head of the region took part in the plenary session on the development of the oil and gas industry on the topic "New Direction - New Technologies". 

“President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to continue work on diversifying the economy, increasing the range of manufactured goods, and expanding the geography of exports. Therefore, we prioritize the development of products with a high degree of processing and the manufacturing industry. For example, the Atyrau Oil Refinery already today

The head of the region also noted the great prospects for the oil and gas industry, its importance in the country's economy in the coming years, while emphasizing the special role of the Atyrau region. 

According to him, in the future, with the launch of the expansion project at the Tengiz field and an increase in production at Kashagan, the share of Atyrau region in the oil production of the republic will reach 65%. Murat Zhurebekov, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said that investment projects such as the construction of a gas processing plant with a capacity of 1 billion m3 of gas per year, the modernization of gas re-injection compressors and others are being implemented as part of the North Caspian project.

Almost 70 companies from Turkey, the USA, the Netherlands, Russia, Belarus, as well as Kazakh companies take part in the work of the regional exhibition "Atyrau Oil and Gas". Thematic seminars, bilateral meetings and other events will be held within the framework of the three-day exhibition.
