According to the digital LS publications received from sources in the Ministry of Energy, Kazakhstan may reduce gas exports in the medium term.

According to the Ministry's forecasts, in 2022 gas production will amount to 53.5 billion cubic meters. In 2026, this figure will grow to 58.4 billion cubic meters.

"Due to the increasing annual domestic gas consumption and the natural depletion of reserves in the fields under development, it is expected to reduce gas resources for export in the medium term. The supply of gas for the gas supply of the domestic market has a legislative priority over export directions," the Ministry of Energy clarified. The ministry noted that in 2021, 7.2 billion cubic meters of gas were exported out of 53.8 billion cubic meters of gas. Including to China – 5.9 billion cubic meters, to Russia – 990 million cubic meters, to Kyrgyzstan – 300 million cubic meters. Raw materials are not supplied to European markets due to the lack of access to the gas transmission system. Negotiations on increasing supplies are not underway.
