Lukoil intends to build a solar power plant in Kazakhstan Lukoil-Ekoenergo LLC (Rostov-on-Don, a structure of LUKOIL) has announced a tender to select a contractor for the construction of a solar power plant (SPP), reports interfax.kz. By interfax.kz

According to the agency, the winner of the open competition will have to build a SES with an installed capacity of 4.96 MW in the Almaty region. The deadline is until March 1, 2023. As part of the construction, the contractor must ensure the complete set, supply of equipment and materials, perform construction, installation and commissioning works, as well as put the SES into operation.

Lukoil has long been interested in green energy projects in Kazakhstan. In 2018, the company signed a memorandum of cooperation in this area with Kazakhmys Holding, the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan.

"At the first stage, the parties will study promising sites where renewable energy sources can be placed, after which decisions will be made on the implementation of projects taking into account the measures approved in the republic to support alternative energy," the Russian company noted after signing the document.

Lukoil-Ekoenergo is the competence center for the development of renewable energy in the Lukoil Group. The company operates four hydroelectric power plants located in the southern regions of Russia and two solar power plants with a capacity of 10 MW and 20 MW in Volgograd.

This company also owns the 84 MW Land Power wind farm in Romania. In addition, Lukoil has started construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 2.35 MW on the territory of the Krasnodar CHP.
