In March 2022, the Ushtobe solar power plant (SES) with an installed capacity of 4.95 MW was commissioned as part of the implementation of the instruction of the Head of State to put into operation at least 2,400 MW of renewable energy (RES) capacities until 2025, the press service reports Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The SES is located in Ushtobe, Karatal district, Almaty region. The construction was carried out on a plot of land with a total area of 10 hectares. The active phase of the implementation of the SES construction project began in June 2021. The planned annual capacity of electricity supply to the grid is more than 7 million kWh.

Всего активно производят энергию на станции 11 008 солнечных панелей, единичной мощностью 450 Вт и 86 стринговых инверторов.

Also, the Concept of Kazakhstan's transition to a "green" economy and the "Strategy Kazakhstan – 2050" approved goals to increase the share of renewable energy in the country's energy balance to 6% in 2025, 15% in 2030 and 50% in 2050 (taking into account alternative sources).
