Since June 1, NCOC has been shutting down its production facilities at the offshore and onshore complex of the Kashagan field for scheduled preventive maintenance, according to a statement on company website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scheduled preventive maintenance is one of the most important measures and involves a complete shutdown of production for a short period of time once every few years to carry out repairs prescribed by regulatory requirements and production needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of scheduled preventive maintenance of production facilities of the Kashagan field is to implement measures to ensure the integrity and safety of the production system, mandatory measures and inspections established by regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the implementation of a number of works and projects to optimize and further improve the productivity and reliability of the production system. Large-scale work of more than 2 million man-hours is planned to be completed within 45 days. The Kashagan field is considered one of the largest oil fields discovered in recent decades. Its recoverable reserves are estimated to be between 9 and 13 billion barrels of oil. Commercial production at Kashagan began in the fall of 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
