China has tripled its investment in solar energy since the start of the year, leading to record growth in new clean energy capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the first four months of the year, China has tripled its investment in solar energy projects,<\/em>\u201d reports EurAsia Daily<\/a> with reference to Bloomberg. \u201cThis enabled the country to set a record number of new clean energy production capacities\u201d<\/em>. According to the agency, from January to April, investments amounted to 29 billion yuan ($4.3 billion), up 204% from the same period a year earlier. In comparison, 51.3 billion yuan was invested in solar energy in the first 11 months of last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cChina is rapidly ramping up investment in solar and wind projects. The country plans to build a large and flexible network to meet its carbon reduction targets by 2030 and zero by 2060. At the same time, coal will continue to play a central role in China's energy mix.
