Горнодобывающая компания LKAB сообщила об открытии в арктической части Швеции крупнейших месторождений редкоземельных металлов, используемых в новейших технологиях, сообщает агентство Interfax.ru со ссылкой на Associated Press (AP).

“Эти залежи редкоземельных металлов – самые большие из известных в этой части света. Они могут стать важным элементом при производстве ключевого сырья, абсолютно необходимого для “зеленого перехода”. Электромобилей не может быть без шахт”, – заявил исполнительный директор LKAB Ян Мострём.

В свою очередь министр энергетики и промышленности Швеции Эбба Буш заявила, что “с рудников начнется электрификация ЕС, его самообеспечение ресурсами, независимость от России и Китая”. Она отметила, что Европе необходимо укреплять промышленный потенциал и энергетику, добиваться отказа от ископаемых источников топлива и перехода к экологичным технологиям.

Однако, уточняет AP, даже в случае быстрой выдачи властями лицензии на разработку месторождений добыча найденных ресурсов может начаться лишь спустя годы.
