One of the berths at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium may start operating today, but by the end of the week, Kazakh oil should go through the CPC in full, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan expects. This was told to journalists on the sidelines of the Majilis on Wednesday by the head of the department Bolat Akchulakov.
"Today the situation is as follows: the repair work is basically finished. They were held intermittently due to weather conditions. The replacement of pipes has been completed, crimping was completed yesterday, filling with water to identify some problem areas in case to avoid spills. Today we expected that we would drain the water, bring the tanker up, and it would start working", – Akchulakov quotes the website Vlast.kz. It is expected that today he will fully start working in PU-3, plus he previously worked in PU-1. Thus, the pipeline will restore 100% of the export capacity.
"By the end of this week, it should be fully, one hundred percent, operational. These are two VPUs, the third VPU will be under repair. But he was in reserve", – the minister voiced his expectations.
In general, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan expects that the CPC will work at full capacity, and loading will begin today, but "if there are strong waves and storms," then "the ship may not approach the berth."
"But these are already features that we cannot control", – the minister concluded.
