An online meeting of the Intellectual Club participants was held to discuss the concept of the development of carbonate deposits of Mangistaumunaigas JSC, the press service reports href="https://www.kmge.kz/---/ " title=" "KMG-Engineering"" target="_self"> "KMG-Engineering"
Deputy Director General for Geology and Development of MMG Damir Shyrakbayev acted as a speaker. "The purpose of the report is primarily to exchange experience for the rational use of carbonate (satellite) deposits among KMG groups of companies. Basically, all the available fields have hard–to-recover oil and gas reserves," Damir Shyrakbayev shared. As part of his speech, the speaker reviewed the deposits in the Mangystau region, where the company is currently actively developing 15, and 7 of them are carbonate – Northern Akkar, Northern Karagie, Roadside, Alatube, Atambay-Sartyube, Aschiagar and Oymasha. In total, their geological reserves are small, but have the potential for further growth, which is due to their low maturity, in comparison with other large long-term deposits.
"The expected increase in geological reserves for carbonate deposits under the exploration program until 2025 is more than 15 and a half million tons of oil. It is planned to carry out a number of research works to clarify reserves, we are talking about seismic exploration, processing of seismic data, well exploration and interpretation of the data obtained. As a result, a significant increase in geological/recoverable reserves is expected," Damir Alibekovich informed.
Separately, he dwelled on plans to introduce innovative methods to increase oil recovery and focused the audience's attention on the technologies used to develop MMG carbonate deposits. Based on the results of studying the world experience in the development of carbonate deposits, the possibility of using carbon dioxide injection into formations to maintain reservoir pressure is being considered. This direction is being studied in the complex on decarbonization of production. In addition, the technology of injection of nitrogen into wells "huff 'n' puff", the drilling potential of horizontal and multi-barrel wells, radial drilling on the existing fund and the application of the method of development of acid hydraulic fracturing were considered. Concluding his report, the speaker emphasized the need to pay more attention, including research to realize the full potential of carbonate deposits in the near future.
The Intellectual club was founded in 2020 with the support of JSC NC "KazMunayGas". Within the framework of this club, 11 meetings were held with the participation of employees of JSC NC "KazMunayGas" and its subsidiaries "Ozenmunaygas", JSC "Embamunaygas", JSC "Karazhanbasmunai", LLP "JV Kazgermunai", JSC "Mangistaumunaygas", LLP "Kazakhturkmunai", LLP "Kazakhoil Aktobe", LLP "Urikhtau Operating", as well as KMG Engineering LLP.
