Part of the landfill lands in Semey want to withdraw from the reserve for the extraction of gold and copper, the correspondent KazTAG agencies.

"1. Transfer land plots with an area of 71.37 hectares from the category of reserve lands on the territory of the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site of the East Kazakhstan region to the category of industrial, transport, communications, space activities, defense, national security and other non-agricultural purposes. 2. To grant Altyn Group Qazagstan LLP (Altyn Group Kazakhstan) the rights of temporary paid land use (lease) for a period up to December 31, 2028, the land plot specified in paragraph 1 of this resolution for the development of the Ulken Karashoky deposit," the draft government resolution says. The entire specified territory now belongs to pastures.

"The purpose of the transfer of land is for the extraction of gold and copper ores at the Ulken Karashoky deposit and the placement of infrastructure," the authors of the document explained, at the same time, the loss of agricultural production that Altyn Group Qazagstan will have to reimburse to the budget, officials estimated at T3 425 760.
